Best Grandpa in the whole wide world

Nuff said.

First Fire in the new house

Our first real fire in our new house.

The new house does not have a gas fireplace, you actually have to build a fire in it. Crazy I know! Well it was raining here and I thought how awesome would it be to build a nice cracking fire for us to enjoy. When we were little my grandma and grandpa lived in a house that had a real fireplace in the upstairs family room and also downstairs. We used to go over there on Friday nights for coffee day. This is where my parents, aunt, and grandparents could catch up on the weeks events. They still do this. The grand kids would go downstairs and grandpa would build us our own fire. I can't tell you how many fun memories I have sitting there with my back getting warm by the fire.
Even though I have two boys scouts that live with me I decided that I would try to do this the easy way so I went to target (best store ever!) and picked up a box of the fire starter logs. They are great you just lite the bottom of the package and poof a fire starts within a minute. The only drawback is now crackling. When i picked up this box I noticed that they had some that said crackling fire starter. It was more expensive so I thought now why would I pay extra for something that it already does naturally. Note to self.....fire's that start this easily not natural. So I guess next time I will have to try the others but for a weeknight when you just want to be able to stare at a warm fire these are awesome!

Halloween 2009

This was the first Halloween in 13 years that I didn't go trick or treating. What????!!!!
The boys both went with their friends and had a great time, received lots of candy. And sadly decided that I was out of the trick or treating business until I have grandchildren. And we are all praying that I will not be a grandma for at least another 20 years!
We decorated the door and front porch. Forgot to carve the pumpkins, where does the time go. It was fun to see the boys dressed up and having a great time.
